Bacolod Hotels on Tripadvisor: What Travelers Really Say Before You Book
Contents
A personal look at Bacolod Hotels on Tripadvisor , based primarily on traveler reviews
As someone who lives in Bacolod and enjoys discovering places around the city, I have always been interested in what other travelers say about our local hotels and accommodations.
I also try to write reviews myself whenever I can. When I stay somewhere and have the opportunity, I share my experience because I believe firsthand feedback can be useful to other travelers.
But let me make one thing clear before we begin:
I have not stayed in all of these properties.
Some of the hotels and accommodations featured in this article are places I have personally experienced, while others are still on my list to try. I have therefore not personally reviewed every property mentioned here.
For this particular article, I went through the current Tripadvisor listings and traveler reviews to see what guests are actually saying about these properties.
So when you read that guests liked a hotel’s pool, found the rooms comfortable, complained about the air-conditioning, praised the staff, or had concerns about breakfast, those observations come from Tripadvisor contributors—not necessarily from me personally.
I want to be transparent about that distinction.
This is not a list of hotels I am personally recommending based on stays in every property. It is my attempt to organize and make sense of the traveler feedback that Tripadvisor has accumulated about Bacolod accommodations.
Why I arranged the list by number of reviews
You may notice that this is not a conventional “Top Hotels in Bacolod” list.
I am not putting the hotel with the highest rating automatically at number one.
Instead, I arranged the properties according to the number of Tripadvisor reviews, from the largest review base to the smallest.
I did this because I think the number of reviews provides useful context.
For example, a hotel with a 4.9/5 rating from 211 reviews certainly has an impressive score. But another hotel with a 4.4/5 rating from 939 reviews has a much larger body of traveler experiences behind it.
Neither automatically means one hotel is better than the other.
It simply gives us a different way of looking at the data.
SEDA CAPITOL CENTRAL : I’ve conducted several training programs for my clients at this hotel and attended countless events here over the years. I’ve also enjoyed sampling their food whenever they introduce new offerings. But despite all those visits, I’ve never actually stayed in one of their rooms here in Bacolod. Hopefully, that’s something I can finally experience soon.
1. Seda Capitol Central | Tripadvisor: #3 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.4/5 | 939 reviews
Seda Capitol Central currently has the largest number of Tripadvisor reviews among the properties included in this article, with 939.
Tripadvisor places it at #3 among 43 hotels in Bacolod.

What are guests actually saying?
Location:
Location is one of the hotel’s strongest points. Tripadvisor gives it a 4.8/5 location score, and guests frequently mention its accessibility to the Capitol area, Ayala Mall and nearby restaurants.
Rooms:
Recent reviews commonly describe the rooms as clean, modern and comfortable. Some guests specifically mention comfortable beds and well-maintained rooms. There are also older reviews mentioning room-condition concerns, which is worth remembering because the hotel may have changed since those reviews were written.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives considerable attention from reviewers. Recent guests have praised the buffet selection and variety, although individual experiences naturally differ.
Pool:
The rooftop pool is frequently mentioned. Some guests enjoy the setting and views, while there have also been comments concerning the condition of the pool area. So I would describe the pool feedback as generally positive but not completely uniform.
Service:
This is another strong point. Recent guests frequently describe the staff as professional, attentive and accommodating.
My take
Seda is one of those properties where the large review volume matters. With 939 reviews, there is a considerable amount of traveler feedback to examine. The strongest recurring themes are location, service, cleanliness, breakfast and room comfort.
Important: The observations above are primarily from Tripadvisor. I am not presenting all of them as my personal experience.
Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod is a property I have come to know quite well over the years. I’ve stayed in their rooms, sampled their food several times, and attended countless events at the hotel. The property has also been a wonderful supporter of the Negrense Bloggers, where I serve as one of the officers. Every year, Park Inn has generously sponsored our Christmas party, making the hotel an important part of our organization’s annual tradition.
And my connection with the hotel goes beyond dining and events—I’ve actually held two art exhibitions at Park Inn Bacolod, and I was very pleased with the support they extended to my work. So when I talk about Park Inn, I’m not simply talking about a hotel I happened to visit once. It’s a property I’ve experienced in many different ways—as a guest, diner, event participant, trainer, artist, and blogger.
2. Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #2 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.6/5 | 550 reviews
Park Inn has one of the strongest combinations of high rating and substantial review volume in Bacolod.
Tripadvisor currently gives it 4.6/5 and ranks it #2 among 43 hotels.

What guests are saying
Location:
The connection to SM City Bacolod is probably one of the most practical features mentioned by guests. Travelers repeatedly appreciate being close to shopping and dining.
Rooms:
The room rating is 4.5/5. Guests commonly describe the rooms as clean and comfortable.
Pool:
The pool receives positive comments, particularly from families. Some reviews describe it as relaxing and suitable for children. However, there are also reviews mentioning periods when the pool was undergoing maintenance.
Breakfast:
The buffet is frequently discussed positively, including comments about the variety of food.
Service:
Service is rated 4.6/5. Many guests praise the staff, although there are also individual complaints concerning check-in delays.
My take
The Tripadvisor picture is quite consistent: strong location, cleanliness, rooms and service, with occasional operational issues reported by individual guests.
L’Fisher Hotel has always been one of my favorite hotels in Bacolod City, and it has been part of both my personal and professional life for many years. I’ve conducted countless training programs for my clients here, as well as several training programs for the hotel’s own staff. Over the years, many of the dining staff have gotten to know me—what I like, what I order, and even what I need before I ask. That kind of familiarity and personalized service is something I truly appreciate.
The photo above is from our latest celebration at L’Fisher, a party we organized for our friend CG Hisona. It’s another reminder of how this hotel has become part of my journey—not just as a venue for work, but also as a place where I’ve celebrated friendships, milestones, and countless memorable moments.
3. L’Fisher Hotel | Tripadvisor: #9 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.6/5 | 481 reviews
L’Fisher has a long Tripadvisor history, with 481 reviews.
Its 3.6/5 rating is considerably lower than the first two hotels, making the actual review comments particularly important.
See L’Fisher reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
Location is one of its strongest categories, with Tripadvisor giving it 4.3/5.
Air-conditioning:
This is an example of the kind of detail I wanted to capture in this article. Some reviewers have specifically complained about older or noisy air-conditioning, including one guest who said the noise affected sleep.
That does not mean every room has the same problem—but it is a specific concern that appears in the review history.
Rooms:
Room ratings are more moderate at 3.5/5. Reviews include both positive experiences and complaints about aging fixtures, bathrooms and maintenance.
Pool:
The rooftop pool is one of the property’s recognizable features. Reviews about the pool are mixed, with some guests enjoying it and others expressing concerns about condition or maintenance.
Breakfast:
Interestingly, some reviewers who criticized other aspects of the property still praised the breakfast buffet.
My take
L’Fisher’s Tripadvisor history is mixed. The location continues to be a strong point, but the review record contains more discussion about aging facilities and maintenance than some of the higher-rated properties.
4. Circle Inn – Hotel & Suites | Tripadvisor: #8 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.7/5 | 466 reviews
Circle Inn has 466 reviews and a 3.7/5 average rating.
See Circle Inn reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Pool:
This is one of the hotel’s more frequently discussed amenities. Circle Inn has an outdoor pool and rooms with direct pool access. Reviewers specifically mention the convenience of being able to access the pool easily, and some families describe children enjoying it.
Air-conditioning:
Here again, the actual review matters. One reviewer specifically described the air-conditioning as very cold, which was considered a positive during the stay.
That is different from simply writing “Circle Inn has air-conditioning.” It tells us what at least one guest actually experienced.
Rooms:
The room rating is 3.9/5. Reviews include descriptions of standard but clean rooms.
Staff:
There are positive comments about friendly and accommodating staff, including assistance from front-desk and security personnel.
Value:
Value is one of the hotel’s better-performing categories at around 4.1/5.
My take
The Tripadvisor picture suggests a practical, relatively good-value property, with the pool and direct pool-access rooms standing out. The overall rating is moderate, so travelers should still read recent reviews for the specific room and dates they are considering.
O Hotel has also been part of my personal and professional journey. I’ve stayed in their rooms and conducted several training programs here for my clients and affiliated organizations. But what makes this hotel particularly memorable to me is that this was where I had my dissertation proposal defense years ago, when I was still pursuing my PhD at UNO-R. Fast-forward to today, and it feels like a full-circle moment.
The photo above was taken during a meeting with my advisees from La Consolacion College Bacolod, where we were working on their dissertation for their Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) program. Years ago, I was the one sitting on the other side of the table defending my dissertation; now, I’m here helping the next generation of doctoral students prepare theirs. Life really does have a funny way of bringing you back to where you started—this time, as the adviser.
5. O Hotel | Tripadvisor: #7 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.2/5 | 270 reviews
O Hotel has approximately 270 Tripadvisor reviews and a 4.2/5 rating.
See O Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms and cleanliness:
Guests frequently describe the rooms as clean and comfortable. Cleanliness is one of the hotel’s stronger subratings.
Beds:
Comfortable beds are mentioned in recent reviews.
Staff:
Service scores well, with guests commonly describing staff as helpful and accommodating.
Food and breakfast:
Recent reviews also discuss the food and buffet breakfast positively.
Atmosphere:
Some guests specifically describe the hotel as calm and comfortable.
My take
O Hotel has a relatively balanced review profile, with rooms, cleanliness, service and value all performing reasonably well.
The photo above was taken during the relaunching and rebranding of Go Hotels Bacolod, bringing back memories for me because I actually stayed here many years ago, when the hotel was still very new, as a blogger. Since then, I’ve also had the chance to stay at several Go Hotels properties in other destinations, so I’ve seen how the brand has grown and evolved over the years.
Coming back for its relaunch felt a little nostalgic—from being one of the bloggers who experienced the hotel when it was new to returning years later to witness its new chapter. It’s always interesting to see how a property changes while still carrying memories of where it started.
6. Go Hotels Plus Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #10 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.5/5 | 248 reviews
Go Hotels Plus has 248 reviews and a 3.5/5 rating.
See Go Hotels Plus reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
The hotel is beside Robinsons Place Bacolod City Walk. Location scores 4.3/5, and convenience to shopping and dining is a recurring positive.
Rooms:
Guests frequently mention clean rooms and comfortable beds, although room size and amenities also appear in the more critical reviews.
Staff:
There are repeated positive comments about accommodating staff.
Wi-Fi and amenities:
Some reviews mention Wi-Fi and basic room amenities as areas where the experience was less satisfactory.
Room setup:
There are individual complaints about missing toiletries or incomplete room setup.
My take
The reviews suggest that Go Hotels Plus is primarily appreciated for location and value, while the guest experience concerning room amenities and service consistency appears more mixed.
AVENUE SUITES HOTEL & SPA | I stayed at this hotel when it was still new, as part of a blogger exchange deal where I was hosted in exchange for writing about and featuring the property. It was one of my early hotel experiences as a blogger, but I never got the chance to experience the hotel again after that.
7. Avenue Suites Hotel & Spa | Tripadvisor: 3.0/5 | about 220 reviews
Avenue Suites has a substantial review history, with around 220 Tripadvisor reviews.
Because Tripadvisor’s category/ranking presentation can differ from the main hotel list, I would focus here on the rating and review volume rather than assigning a hotel-category rank unless Tripadvisor explicitly provides one in the current listing.
See Avenue Suites reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
The review history is mixed, with travelers discussing the central location, room condition, service and value. The relatively low 3.0/5 overall score indicates that the accumulated experiences are considerably more divided than those of the higher-rated properties above.
Because the reviews span different periods, readers should pay particular attention to recent reviews before drawing conclusions about the current condition of the property.
8. Ong Bun Pension House | Tripadvisor: No hotel-category rank | 4.5/5 | 214 reviews
Ong Bun is included in this article because it has a substantial 214 Tripadvisor reviews and a strong 4.5/5 rating.
However, Tripadvisor does not list this property under the hotel category used for the Bacolod hotel ranking. Therefore, I am deliberately not assigning it an artificial hotel rank.
See Ong Bun reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
The central location is frequently appreciated, particularly by travelers looking for access to the heart of Bacolod.
Value:
Affordability is one of the recurring attractions.
Rooms:
Recent reviews include positive comments about clean and comfortable rooms. However, the older review history contains complaints involving bathrooms and room conditions.
Staff:
Recent reviews frequently describe the staff as accommodating and helpful.
My take
Ong Bun is a good example of why recent reviews matter. Its overall 4.5 score is strong, but its older reviews contain concerns that don’t always match the more recent feedback.
And again, I am not assigning it a hotel rank because Tripadvisor itself does not place it in that hotel category.
Citadines Bacolod has been part of my hospitality journey even before the property was actually built. I remember blogging about the development while it was still in the planning and construction stage, so it was exciting to eventually see the property come to life. Since then, I’ve attended numerous events and parties here, sampled their food several times, and followed the property as it became one of the newer additions to Bacolod’s hotel scene.
I also have a funny personal connection with Citadines because I actually won their vlogging competition years ago! The prize was a complimentary room stay, which sounded like a pretty great reward—BUT I had to fly to Manila to redeem it. 😂 So, ironically, I won a hotel stay but never got to enjoy the room because the cost of getting to Manila made the “free” stay a little less free. Hahaha! And here’s the funny part: even after all these years, I still haven’t stayed in a Citadines room in Bacolod. I’ve attended their events, enjoyed their food, blogged about the property, and even won their vlogging competition—but the actual room experience remains unfinished business. Perhaps it’s finally time to correct that!
9. Citadines Bacolod City | Tripadvisor: #1 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.9/5 | 211 reviews
Citadines currently has the highest Tripadvisor rating among the hotels in the main Bacolod hotel category, at 4.9/5, and is ranked #1 of 43.
See Citadines reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Staff:
This is arguably the strongest recurring theme. Guests repeatedly praise the staff for being attentive, friendly and helpful.
Cleanliness:
Cleanliness receives exceptionally strong feedback.
Rooms:
Reviews frequently describe rooms as modern, clean and comfortable.
Food:
Guests also mention the property’s restaurants and food positively.
Pool:
The pool receives positive comments, including from families. Some guests specifically mention enjoying the pool as part of their stay.
My take
Citadines has an impressive 4.9/5, but remember: its 211 reviews are far fewer than Seda’s 939.
That doesn’t diminish the rating. It simply provides context.
10. Acacia Hotel Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #4 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.5/5 | 200 reviews
Acacia has 200 Tripadvisor reviews and a 4.5/5 rating.
See Acacia Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviewers describe the rooms as clean, spacious and comfortable.
Pool:
The wave pool is one of Acacia’s distinctive features. Family reviews frequently mention enjoying it. However, there are also individual comments concerning pool maintenance.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives generally positive comments, although at least one reviewer noted occasions when food trays were not replenished quickly enough.
Staff:
Service is one of the stronger areas, with many positive comments about staff.
My take
Acacia’s review record is generally favorable, particularly regarding rooms, cleanliness, staff and family facilities, although the pool and food-service comments show that experiences are not completely uniform.
My room experience at this hotel was way back, so I honestly can’t remember much about it anymore. But Sugarland holds a special place in my heart. This was where we used to have our weekly meetings when I was still active with the Toastmasters Club. Some of the veteran waiters here have also known me for years, and whenever I come back, it feels a little like coming home.
The photo above was taken during our latest dining experience at the hotel, this time with three of my dissertation advisees from La Consolacion College Bacolod, as we met to work on their dissertation. It’s nice to return to a place that has been part of different chapters of my life—first through Toastmasters, and now through my work with my doctoral advisees.
11. Sugarland Hotel | Tripadvisor: #6 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.8/5 | about 188 reviews
Sugarland has around 188 reviews and a 3.8/5 rating.
See Sugarland reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviews describe rooms as clean, spacious and comfortable.
Staff:
Guests frequently mention courteous and helpful staff.
Breakfast and food:
Food and breakfast appear regularly in reviews, with several positive comments but not a completely uniform response.
Pool:
The property has a pool, but the available review evidence does not show a strong enough consistent pattern to call it either exceptional or problematic.
Value:
Value scores around 4.1/5, stronger than the overall rating.
My take
The Tripadvisor record suggests that cleanliness, staff and value are among Sugarland’s better-performing areas.
12. Palmas del Mar Conference-Resort Hotel | Tripadvisor: about 187 reviews | 3.8/5
Palmas del Mar is included because it has a substantial Tripadvisor review history, although it is more accurately described as a conference-resort property than a conventional city hotel.
See Palmas del Mar reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Reviews discuss the resort environment, rooms, pool and food, with experiences varying from positive family or leisure stays to criticisms concerning facilities and maintenance.
Because this property serves a somewhat different purpose from a downtown business hotel, its reviews should also be interpreted within that context.
13. The Suites at Calle Nueva | Tripadvisor: No hotel-category rank | 4.2/5 | about 163 reviews
The Suites at Calle Nueva is another property that Tripadvisor categorizes separately from the main hotel ranking.
It has approximately 163 reviews and a 4.2/5 rating.
See The Suites at Calle Nueva reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviewers mention relatively large rooms and comfortable accommodations. One reviewer specifically noted that the air-conditioning and television were working properly.
Location:
Convenience to central Bacolod and nearby shopping is a recurring positive.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives mixed but generally useful comments. Some appreciate having breakfast included, while others describe the selection as limited.
Staff:
Friendly service is a recurring positive.
Value:
Value is one of the stronger subratings.
My take
The Suites appears to appeal to travelers looking for space, location and value, rather than a conventional luxury-hotel experience.
Because Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel & Residences is near my place, I used to spend quite a bit of time here, especially when I was writing. Back when they still had their buffet breakfast, it was one of those convenient places where I could linger, have something to eat, and work on my writing. I’ve also stayed here once, way back, although that room experience was already quite some time ago.
Over the years, I’ve attended several events here and also conducted several training programs for my client companies at the hotel. So my connection with Planta Centro goes beyond simply being a nearby hotel—it has been a familiar place for writing, dining, training, events, and one memorable stay.
14. Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel & Residences | Tripadvisor: #15 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.3/5 | about 162 reviews
Planta Centro has around 162 Tripadvisor reviews and a 3.3/5 average rating.
See Planta Centro reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Reviews are mixed. Some guests describe rooms as comfortable and clean, while others describe an older or dated feel.
Air-conditioning:
There is not enough consistent review evidence to characterize the air-conditioning as either a major strength or recurring problem. So I would not make a claim beyond the fact that air-conditioning is provided.
Pool:
One reviewer specifically described the pool water as clean and noted that it was not crowded during that stay. That is useful firsthand feedback, but it should not be interpreted as proof that the pool is always uncrowded or always in the same condition.
Breakfast:
Breakfast reviews are mixed. Some guests appreciate the complimentary breakfast, while others criticize the selection or taste.
Internet:
Internet reliability appears as a specific concern in some reviews.
My take
Planta Centro has a more mixed Tripadvisor profile, with reasonable comments about some facilities and service alongside recurring criticism about the property’s older feel and certain operational issues.
15. Business Inn | Tripadvisor: about 118 reviews | 3.3/5
Business Inn has a smaller review base than the properties above, with around 118 Tripadvisor reviews.
What guests are saying
The review history discusses its central location, rooms, staff, food and value. As with several older Bacolod properties, reviews span different periods, so the most recent comments are particularly important when assessing present-day room and facility conditions.
See Business Inn reviews on Tripadvisor
16. L’Fisher Chalet | Tripadvisor: about 115 reviews | 3.8/5
L’Fisher Chalet has a smaller review history than the main L’Fisher Hotel, with around 115 reviews.
It should therefore be treated as a separate property and not as simply another name for the main hotel.
What guests are saying
Reviews discuss the rooms, location, service and overall value, with experiences varying between positive stays and concerns about property condition.
Because there are fewer reviews, I would be particularly cautious about making broad conclusions from the overall score.
17. 11th Street Bed & Breakfast Tripadvisor: #4 of 33 B&Bs/Inns | 4.0/5 | 111 reviews
11th Street is categorized by Tripadvisor as a B&B/Inn rather than part of the main hotel ranking.
What guests are saying
Reviews generally discuss its location, rooms, value and service. Its value rating is relatively strong, while the room experience is somewhat more moderate.
See 11th Street reviews on Tripadvisor
18. MO2 Westown Hotel Bacolod Tripadvisor: about 91 reviews | 3.3/5
MO2 Westown has a smaller Tripadvisor review base of around 91 reviews.
The review history discusses rooms, location, pool facilities, service and value. With fewer reviews than the properties at the top of this article, its overall rating should be read with that smaller sample in mind.
19. GT Hotel Bacolod Tripadvisor: about 83 reviews | 3.9/5
GT Hotel has approximately 83 Tripadvisor reviews.
The property is categorized separately from some of the larger hotel listings, so the review count and rating are more useful here than trying to force it into a particular city-wide ranking.
Reviews discuss location, rooms, cleanliness, service and value, with generally moderate-to-positive observations.
See GT Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center is another relatively new hotel in Bacolod, but somehow, it already feels like home to me. I’ve conducted quite a number of my graduate school class meetings here, and we recently held the induction of Bacolod SMILE at the hotel as well. The photo above was taken during the MassKara 2025 Masquerade, adding another memorable occasion to my growing list of experiences here.
One thing I particularly admire about Roy’s is that some of its hospitality management personnel are veterans in the industry, including their captain waiters whom I’ve known from way back. They bring with them that old-school familiarity and genuine hospitality that I really appreciate. The service has always felt personalized, and when people already know you, remember your preferences, and make you feel comfortable without making a big production out of it, that’s the kind of hospitality I admire.
20. Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center | Tripadvisor: #5 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.8/5 | about 56 reviews
Now we come to an interesting case.
Roy’s has a very strong 4.8/5 rating and is currently #5 of 43 hotels on Tripadvisor.
But it has only around 56 reviews.
See Roy’s Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
Why that matters
A 4.8 rating is certainly impressive.
But compare it with Seda’s 939 reviews or Park Inn’s 550.
Roy’s rating comes from a much smaller body of traveler feedback.
That does not make the rating less genuine. It simply means that we should not interpret 4.8/5 from 56 reviews in exactly the same way as 4.4/5 from 939 reviews.
What travelers are saying
The available reviews are strongly positive about rooms, cleanliness, service and value. Tripadvisor’s subratings are particularly high.
For me, Roy’s is therefore a property worth watching as its Tripadvisor review base grows.
21. Bacolod Pension Plaza | Tripadvisor: about 47 reviews | 3.6/5
Bacolod Pension Plaza has a relatively small review history, with around 47 reviews.
Because of the smaller sample, the overall rating should be treated cautiously.
Reviews discuss its central location, rooms, value and service, with mixed experiences reported.
22. Stonehill Suites | Tripadvisor: about 37 reviews | 3.9/5
Stonehill Suites has approximately 37 Tripadvisor reviews.
That is a small sample compared with the hundreds of reviews accumulated by Seda, Park Inn, L’Fisher and Circle Inn.
Therefore, while the 3.9/5 rating is useful, I would not draw strong conclusions from it alone.
See Stonehill Suites reviews on Tripadvisor
23. The Henry Hotel Roost Bacolod | Tripadvisor: about 8 reviews | 4.6/5
The Henry Hotel Roost is perhaps the clearest example of why review volume must accompany the rating.
Tripadvisor currently shows approximately 8 reviews and a 4.6/5 rating.
See The Henry Hotel Roost reviews on Tripadvisor
Eight reviews cannot reasonably be compared with 939 reviews.
The rating is encouraging, but the sample is simply too small to make a strong statistical comparison.
As more travelers stay and review the property, the Tripadvisor score may provide a more meaningful picture.
My Personal Disclaimer
I want to emphasize this because I don’t want readers to mistake this article for something it is not.
I personally enjoy visiting hotels, restaurants and other places in Bacolod, and I do write reviews myself whenever I have the opportunity.
But I have not stayed in every property listed in this article.
Some of these hotels I know personally. Others I have yet to experience.
Therefore, I am not going to pretend that I personally know what every room feels like, how cold every air-conditioner gets, how the breakfast tastes every morning, or how the pool looks on a particular day.
Where I have personal experience, I can speak from that experience.
Where I don’t, I rely on what Tripadvisor travelers have reported.
That distinction is important to me.
And That’s Really the Point of This Article
There are plenty of hotel articles online that simply say:
“Beautiful rooms. Great pool. Excellent service. Perfect location.”
But those descriptions don’t always tell us enough.
If someone says the air-conditioning is good, what does “good” mean?
Was the room actually cold?
Was the unit quiet?
Did it malfunction?
If someone says the pool is good, what did they like about it?
Was it clean?
Was it large?
Was it crowded?
Was it good for children?
Was it under maintenance?
Those are the details that I think travelers actually want to know.
So rather than simply repeating hotel descriptions, I have tried to look at what guests actually experienced and reported.
A Note About Tripadvisor’s Ratings
Tripadvisor ratings are cumulative.
That means a hotel’s current score may include reviews written years ago as well as reviews written very recently.
This matters enormously.
A hotel could have:
- changed management;
- renovated its rooms;
- replaced its air-conditioning units;
- improved its breakfast;
- changed its staff;
- upgraded its facilities;
- changed its policies;
- or experienced deterioration in some areas.
An older review may therefore describe a hotel that no longer exists in exactly the same condition.
There is also a second issue:
Not every guest writes a review.
The people who leave reviews are a self-selected group. Some may have had an exceptional experience. Others may have been particularly disappointed.
So Tripadvisor should be used as one source of information, not as an absolute measurement of reality.
Finally, Check Before You Book
If you are considering any of these properties, I would suggest going one step further.
Don’t just look at the overall rating.
Look at the most recent Tripadvisor reviews.
Search specifically for the things that matter to you:
Pool? Read the recent pool comments.
Air-conditioning? Search for reviews mentioning AC.
Breakfast? Read what recent guests say about the actual food and service.
Wi-Fi? Check whether recent guests mention speed or reliability.
Room condition? Look at recent traveler photos as well as written reviews.
Family stay? Look for reviews from families.
Business trip? Look for comments from business travelers.
And if something is particularly important to you, confirm it directly with the hotel before booking, because facilities, rates, policies and operating conditions can change.
One Last Thing
This article is my way of looking at the available traveler feedback—not an official Tripadvisor ranking and not a personal endorsement of every property listed.
Some of these places I have stayed in.
Some I haven’t.
And I think it’s perfectly okay to say that.
I would rather tell you honestly “I haven’t experienced this hotel yet, but here is what its Tripadvisor guests are saying” than write as if I personally stayed there when I did not.
For me, that’s what makes a travel article more useful—and hopefully more trustworthy.
Tripadvisor provides the reviews. Travelers provide the experiences. I simply organized the information and tried to put it into context.
