QUAN’S PUTO CUCHINTA

One of the most popular Filipino merienda item or  dessert  is the Puto Cuchinta (Kutsinta). Cuchinta is simply made of rice flour, sugar, lye, food color (in the olden times they use atsuete), water  and grated coconut or grated cheese as toppings. The ingredients (except the toppings of course) are simply mixed and steamed until done.

What I like most about the cuchinta is that unlike other Filipino kakanin it’s not too sweet. The grated coconut also adds a different texture, but if you like something else you can use grated cheese too.

Quan’s Puto Cuchinta is available in all Quan Outlets:  Quan Northdrive ; Quan La Salle, Quan East; Quan Araneta ; Gaisano City ; Robinsons  and the Quan’s  outlet in Ayala Mall –Talisay

Today, Puto Cuchinta comes  with some variations. Just like what Quan Delicacies has. Aside from their traditional cuchinta which is orangey in color they came up with colored variations which are perfect as pasalubong and children loved it because of its color. It looked perfect also when to serve  in the dining or buffet table because its color. Quan’s cuchinta is packed in a transparent packaging.

I love taking cuchinta along with sodas or any cold beverages….my favorite comfort food especially when I’m busy…just like while I’m writing this article.
